NACD AUXILIARY
NEWSLETTER FOR DECEMBER 2011
Greetings Everyone,
Where
has 2011 gone?? My fall newsletter with information has now turned into the
first week of December letter as follows:
November 2011
Dear Fellow Auxiliary Member,
Can you believe it
– fall has brought down most all of the leaves and winds are blowing. Wintery
weather is knocking at the back door here in Illinois. And with pen in hand and
NACD convention only less than two months away, it is time to jot you all a
note.
The convention
will be January 29th, thru February 1st in Las Vegas at
“The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas” smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip.
I had the opportunity to see the hotel in its magnificence and newness shortly
after it opened last January. All meeting rooms smelled of new wood. It is
quite nice.
The auxiliary
officers have been busy planning activities for folks in attendance. Karen
Smart, vice-president especially. Kicking off the conference is an opportunity
to see the Donnie and Marie Osmond show Saturday evening, January 28th
just across the street from the Cosmo. Karen recently took in the show and
reports it’s fabulous. Karen was able to get us tickets at a discount price, so
when you register be sure to get tickets if interested.
Sunday morning we
will be readying our tables for the country store and silent auction. We will
be asking all attendees to bring an item or items to donate to our store, be it
crafts, handiwork, packaged treats, whatever. For our silent auction, we are
asking regions to donate an item to be bid on during conference.
The Country Store
will be open all day Sunday, Monday and Tuesday morning. Please donate, we will
also need volunteers to man the store. Please stop by the hospitality area when
you check in for any information.
Gracing the area
will be “Our Quilt” of state flowers. All 50 states and 8 territories will have
a square. My deepest Thank You to everyone who contributed and supported
this yearly event. Many folks did extra so that all 58 states and territories
would be represented! Please sell/buy tickets. I have enjoyed trips to the
mailbox this fall to see what state square arrived that day.
Sunday morning
will be our auxiliary business meeting. Please plan to attend; it is good to
hear from you on thoughts, concerns, and ideas of continued auxiliary
activities and programs.
Tuesday morning
will be our breakfast and program (style show by Dillard’s). I am asking each
state to bring a door prize for drawing during business meeting and/or breakfast.
Following breakfast and short break the auxiliary is hosting a bus tour with
lunch included to leave the strip and get out into the fresh air away from the
“slots” to see the “Valley of Fire.” A boxed lunch is on the menu. We will
return mid-afternoon so everyone will have time to rest and refresh for the
closing banquet Tuesday evening.
Please note: State officers, be sure to send your
state and regional reports along with your dues ($50) to Tina Craft, NACD
Auxiliary Treasurer, also any quilt ticket sales.
Reminder also –
each state is welcome to submit a name for Outstanding Service Recognition with
short biography and significant contributions in promotion of conservation
programs in their district or state. Deadline for name submission is January 1st,
2012. Please send name to:Marie
Bunting, 28542
N. 2900 E. Rd., Dwight, IL 60420 815-934-5562
Hope many of you
are planning to attend the 2012 NACD Convention in Las Vegas, NV and will take
part in the activities offered to you by the AUXILIARY to make it a successful
event.
Sincerely,
Marie
Bunting
NACD
Auxiliary President
